I feel that the bigger picture is within the relationship structure that is acceptable by today's standards. Most of the people I know have no morals but at the same time they have never been taught to listen to their monster. I think the devaluing of marriage and family has been a direct hit on the morals we live by today. Almost no one anymore is held accountable for their actions by the people that love them. We just don't learn to be moral. Living without accountability makes it possible to live without a monster. With all the technology and amazing things we have in the world today we have become more and more disconnected from family and loved ones. We all have the ability to sense that something is going wrong but each day we learn less and less how to discern what exactly the problem is. Its not that we miss the message but more that we do not even know how to see it. I believe that what we have created for the global environment is the lack of need for morals. Morals are no longer necessary to accomplish great things because the degree of closeness with those around us is so great a gap we can do the wrong thing our whole lives and never be held accountable and better yet still be rewarded for it. The world is saying that morals are no longer necessary to survive. Intellect is just one of many ways we try to learn morals on our own. I think the idea is that the more knowledge I have than you, makes me smarter, therefore I am more likely to be right or "moral". I don't feel like the world has put the importance on intellect purposefully but rather out of necessity grasping to understand what is moral or immoral.

Walker,
Thank you for the comment. You have made a good insight. Smarter does not make us happier, especially when it comes with a heavy burden of debt. Are you quoting from a book Peter Kreeft wrote? If so what is the book?

I have come to realize that education is the great new idol of our time. We're told and have bought into the message that if we can just get everybody educated, the worlds problems will be solved. We are told that any sacrifice is worth it to get your child as many degrees as possible. Give up relationships, childhood, go into debt, do whatever it takes to gain "intellect'. Yet Peter Kreeft writes that the more education one has, the less moral clarity they have also. So true, not just because we learn that issues are not so cut and dry, but that we learn new ways to justify our selfishness.

It surprises me, that even though job seekers are shown better strategies for the hunt, oftentimes, they choose to stick with grandpa's old shotgun, when a new rifle is clearly needed.

Why do you think that is?

Chris,

No question about it, it has become more and more challenging in recent times to be selected as "the one" by employers.

There is definitely no shortage of job seekers. However, there is a shortage of creative job seekers.

For a person to get the opportunity to sell him/herself as the right candidate, it is critical to distance themselves from the stampede of others as much as possible.

The Internet ideas you shared certainly helps with that process.
